ride to the bank
he never knew what his mission and purpose in life were.
then he received a text from four strangers who turned out to be bank robbers.
they wanted him to be the driver on their next job.

it didn't make any sense why they contacted him.
he didn’t know them and wasn’t a bank robber.
besides he didn't have a driver's license.
that annoyed and concerned him more than four criminals contacting him.
he felt a strange connection to them and somehow they were tied to his destiny.
it didn't make any sense but he accepted their offer.

he parked a block away from the bank and kept the motor running.
he heard gunfire and they never showed up.
they texted him the next day and asked him to drive again.
this time it was a different set of bank robbers.
he wondered about that but didn't say anything.
they died in their robbery attempt as well.
a third group contacted him.
on their ride to the bank he warned them they'd die in the robbery.

the one in charge said they had no choice.
it had to do with reincarnation.
the four of them murdered people in their previous lives.
they were being punished for their bad karma.
their souls were forced to return in new bodies and die violently in the same bank robbery.
he pulled the car off to the side of the road.
he told them the solution would be to donate the proceeds of the robberies to charities.
if they did that enough times their debt to the universe would be paid.
they agreed to the new plan and the robbery went smoothly.
on the way back from the bank they dropped the money off at a homeless shelter.

that night he figured out his mission and purpose in life.
he’d become a taxi driver.
he'd help the lost and misguided souls while they were on earth.
he'd drive them around and help them navigate their transcendental journeys.
but first he'd go to the courthouse and get his driver's license.
